  • HUB Ohio Room 319 Pratt Drive Indiana, PA, 15701 United States (map)

STATIC is proud to present The Free Hugs Project: An Evening with Ken E. Nwadike, Jr., Inspirational Speaker and Peace Activist. The event will take place on Thursday, February 22, in the HUB Ohio Room.  Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the event will begin at 7:30 PM. This is a FREE event, and is open to the entire IUP campus community.

The event should prove to be a meaningful event for everyone, and quite relevant given that February is Black History Month and the work done with the Diversity Action Plan by the President’s Commission on Diversity and Inclusion.

According to the Free Hugs Project website, Ken E. Nwadike Jr is a peace activist, inspirational speaker, and video journalist popularly known as the Free Hugs Guy. Ken is the founder of the Free Hugs Project, which gained popularity as he made major news headlines for his peacekeeping efforts and de-escalation of violence during protests, riots, and political rallies. Ken was featured in Google’s 2016 Year in Search video as a highlight among some of the year’s most defining moments and he has made many appearances on news programs, including CNN, USA Today, Good Morning Britain, and BBC News.

Today, Ken’s courageous work as a peace activist is helping to heal and narrow the social, political and racial divide that currently exists throughout our country.  His energy, spirit, passion and love are changing individual behaviors and group interactions for the better.
